There is no denying that boxing’s billionaire golden boy, Floyd Mayweather, is on a passionate quest to become the undisputed king of the exhibition boxing scene. There have been talks about a potential (and grossly mismatched) fight between Mayweather and KSI’s brother, Deji. If reports are to be believed, the Rizin Fighting Federation wishes to pit the boxing maestro against the former UFC contender, Nate Diaz.
Mayweather was last seen in a sensational showdown in Japan. He fought Mikuru Asakura as a part of a Rizin event on September 25, 2022. Diaz on the other hand has been a free agent ever since he left the UFC in September. He also showcased a stellar performance against Tony Ferguson in his last fight for the UFC. And he also won the bout by submission.

Meanwhile, Rizin boss, Nobuyuki Sakakibara, recently opened up about his wish to make the duo face each other inside the ring. Talking about the same, he said, “We do think we’re at a point where we can’t just only focus on the Japanese market anymore. We have to target the international audience. So, with that said, Floyd’s opponent doesn’t have to be a Japanese fighter anymore.”

Moreover, he further added, “Nate’s kind of like the global [version of the] Asakura brothers. The Diaz brothers are the global Asakura brothers. And who would not want to see them fight and take on Floyd Mayweather?”

Sakakibara is a known boxing fan, hence why he’d want to put on Mayweather/Nate after he put on Mayweather/Mikuru and Mayweather/Tenshin. In the PRIDE days, he tried to put on Tyson/Fedor, Tyson/Cro Cop, Tamura/Holyfield, Tamura/Ray Leonard and Tamura/De la Hoya. https://t.co/J7wjBXDg9D
