Canelo Alvarez Feels “Sad” for Ryan Garcia, Emphasizes “Help” as Boxing World Fears for His Life

Ever since Ryan Garcia signed the deal with Devin Haney for a fight on April 20th, ‘KingRy’ made several questionable statements on social media, leaving the boxing world concerned. On that note, Canelo Alvarez has now revealed what he felt about Garcia’s mental health. Speaking to FightHype, Alvarez sympathized with ‘KingRy’.
In addition to hoping Garcia would remain focused, Canelo hoped ‘KingRy’ would receive the help he needs. On the other hand, despite Garcia’s latest antics such as smoking live on Instagram and riding a horse at the press conference, Canelo believed ‘KingRy’ could bear down Devin Haney.

In addition to claiming he felt unbearable pain, Garcia announced his life was under threat lately via social media posts. In this connection, while Alvarez claimed Garcia to be a good person, he emphasized that people around ‘KingRy’ had to help the 25-year-old. On that note, feeling sad for Garcia’s current state, Alvarez, who claims to have practically beaten Floyd Mayweather, hoped Garcia would regain his focus ahead of the Devin Haney fight.

“My mind going says, ‘Help Ryan.’ He’s a good kid. He’s a good person. You need to help him. And the people around him need to help him,” said Canelo Alvarez. “So, I feel a little sad for him. He need to have a good person, good people around him. His goal is [to] take it easy, slow down, and then we see,” Alvarez added.
At this, a reporter asked Canelo if Garcia could beat Haney. To which, Alvarez said, “If he’s 100%, yes.” In this context, it is worth mentioning that Garcia repaired his relationship with Alvarez and coach Eddy Reynoso last year.

No hard feelings between Garcia and Alvarez
Canelo Alvarez and Ryan Garcia were initially training partners. For three years, Garcia trained with Alvarez under the guidance of coach Eddy Reynoso. However, in 2021, after Garcia left the team, Alvarez called Ryan “ungrateful“. However, in November last year, Garcia met Canelo and Reynoso. Later, speaking to BoxingScene, Garcia had said, “We definitely are cool now.”

“I’ve talked to Eddy [Reynoso] and everything is all squashed. I have no hard feelings for them. Canelo is a global superstar, and he can do what he wants, in his own ways,” Garcia had added.
