Despite that, the 23-year-old is hungry for more and he is looking to earn a title fight. Recently, his trainer, Robert Garcia, was in an exclusive interview with Fight Hub TV. Here, he revealed how Ortiz Jr. can claim a title shot.
“I don’t think Top Rank or PBC, who Vergil doesn’t fight for are going to say, are going to welcome Vergil, ‘Come here, we’ll let you fight our champion and become and you know beat them up and go home with a title’. That’s not gonna happen.”

“So the only thing that we’re going to have to enforce is a mandatory. Where the WBO, WBC, whichever one says you guys have to make a deal if not going to purse bid, that’s how we’re just going to get our title shot,” he said.

Ortiz Jr., in his last fight, went toe-to-toe against Maurice Hooker. In this contest, the young gun showed his class, bagged the title, and moved closer to a world title fight.
