Former WBC champion Deontay Wilder was the sensational king of the heavyweight unit until he encountered Tyson Fury in back-to-back fights. Wilder suffered his first loss and surrendered the WBC title to ‘The Gypsy King’ in the re-match in February. He has had a tough time ever since then.
While he has already tried to justify his loss with several opinions, none of which have found him any favor with the fans. That said, Deontay Wilder seems to be out of the current heavyweight talks. He hasn’t confirmed his return, and the division has moved on.

Matchroom CEO Eddie Hearn is one of the few promoters to have staged some epic heavyweight clashes this year amid the global pandemic. He feels that Wilder is nowhere in the top-list and has mocked the American in a recent interview. The promoter also clarified that Matchroom wasn’t bothered about Wilder at this point, He also made it clear that it was the former WBC champion who ducked Anthony Joshua.
Eddie Hearn has some venomous words for Deontay Wilder
During an interaction with IFL TV, Hearn has mocked Wilder and commented on how far he is from the heavyweight top slot. Wilder’s recent comments have differed from his past ones, and Eddie Hearn didn’t fail to remind the audience about the same.
Talking about it, Hearn said, “He (Wilder) says I am past Joshua, mate, you are about 75 yards that way at the moment and you are not even. I can’t actually see you. Hold on, Deontay. Boys, can you just move the queue back a little bit.”

Hearn also appeared confident while claiming that Tyson Fury would also avoid a fight against Wilder. He added, “Next, the one after. The one after that, the one after that. I mean that’s how far back he is and actually with his comments, who would want to even give him a fight, anyway? You think Tyson Fury would give Deontay Wilder a fight now? After he just called him a cheat.”

If Wilder wants to regain his spot, he would have to return to action soon. If not Fury, he can opt for several others from the stellar roster; remaining inactive would result in him losing any clout he has remaining in the division.
