Oleksandr Usyk battered Anthony Joshua in September to grab hold of the unified heavyweight titles. Now, it’s up to Anthony Joshua on how badly he wants to reclaim his lost aura in the division. After being poleaxed for all 12 rounds in the first fight, AJ shall re-match Usyk in 2022 and has already vowed to offer a better version of himself in-ring.
Meanwhile, Eddie Hearn has pitched a potential date and venue for the heavyweight championship fight. After several rumors of a step-aside deal, it seems AJ and Usyk aren’t done with each other. The former Olympic gold medalist will settle their in-ring dispute for once and for all. And then move ahead to plot other matchups.
In a chat with iFL TV, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, addressed several scenes surrounding his client’s future. He also addressed when we can see Anthony Joshua back in action, however, he revealed little about the developments.

The Matchroom chief said, “Honestly not much. Only that we have to get together and decide the date. April is realistic for that fight and where it’s going to be. We have had offers from around the world. I think UK will stage that fight but we will have to sit down with Alex Krassyuk and we will get Christmas out of the way and we will start moving forward with that. Because it’s time to start planning that.”

Oleksandr Usyk has appeared ready for the rematch ever since his historic title win in London. He looked smart against Joshua and was clearly the better man in-ring. Relying on that, Usyk shall remain confident as the pressure seems more on Anthony Joshua’s corner.

Can Anthony Joshua really beat the undefeated Oleksandr Usyk?
Despite avenging a loss against Andy Ruiz Jr. in 2019, Joshua can come across some new challenges this time. Unlike Ruiz Jr., Usyk is a southpaw master and has been undefeated as a pro-boxer. He is technically alert and possesses a fine in-ring IQ. Joshua shall trade with these and, on overpowering them, he can expect to win.
Although ‘AJ’ can sample his KO-power, it won’t be impactful unless landed in the right zone. Usyk’s movement and footwork are hard to decipher and have troubled all of his opponents. That said, Joshua has a lot to prove and another defeat can take everything away from him.
