5 Years After Retirement, Tony Bellew Teases Potential Comeback

Tony Bellew had a celebrated career. He made his boxing debut in 2007 and retired in the year 2018. In a career span of more than a decade, the former undisputed cruiserweight champion amassed 30 victories with three defeats and one draw. The British boxer announced his retirement after his knockout defeat against the current lineal heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk. In the meantime, his association with the sport did not come to a halt. He voiced his opinions and thoughts as an analyst.
However, in a recent turn of events, he revealed that he might adjourn his retirement and make a comeback in the squared circle. His confession appears to be planned, as he has an opponent in mind. So without a further ado, let’s take a look at what he had to say.

However, in response, Bellew asserted that he need not make a return for financial incentives. But would rather come back to the sport for the “Glory.” That being said, the 40-year-old made it evident that everyone has a price and he would not fight if he is not paid what he is worth. He responds, “It is always the glory. I mean listen financially, I am alright.” He adds, “It is always the glory. But don’t get me wrong I don’t do it for free.”

Moreover, when asked to give a decisive answer for a comeback, he asserts it is a possibility. But the likelihood of the Polish boxer to face Bellew is less. According to him, the champion has more financial options available at less risk. Moreover, he claims to stop the champion inside six rounds. Reflecting on the same, he states, “It is a possibility. I just don’t think Lukasz Rozanski fancies it. And if he did, then he would wanna make it happen. But I think he has better options than me if I am being honest. Financially, better options.” He adds, “If he was to face me even at 40 mate, it would be curtains for him inside six rounds.”
