Gervonta Davis secured an iconic win against Mario Barrios. Davis added a new world title in a third weight class by an 11th round stoppage against the 140 lbs champion.
Even though Davis landed the bigger shots and ultimately ended up dominating the fight towards the end, Mario put up a tough challenge.
Barrios maintained distance with his right jab without over-extending through the first four rounds; however, Davis began parrying his jabs in Round 5, which allowed him to close the distance and connect better.

Gervonta Davis showed greatness to Floyd Mayweather
Davis flipped the switch in the second half of the fight by closing the distance and dropping Barrios twice in Round 8. However, Mario Barrios retaliated in the 9th round by taking a central position in the ring and hurting Davis with a left jab.
At the end of the 9th round, Gervonta’s mentor Floyd Mayweather told him, “on the unofficial (scorecard), you’re down.” This concerned Davis and prompted him to step up his game.
