Floyd Mayweather Stands up to Gervonta Davis’ “Jealous” Exhibition Claim

The former five-division champion, Floyd Mayweather, had his press conference clashed with his long-time protégé, Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis. Following this, the current WBA (Regular) lightweight champion called out Floyd on Twitter by calling him “jealous” in a now-deleted tweet.

In the aftermath of this fallout, Floyd Mayweather sat down with Ben Thompson for an interview for FightHype. During which he responded to Gervonta Davis’ recent comments about him in a surprising manner.

The legendary boxing icon acknowledged how far Davis has come. According to him, Tank has really matured over the years in terms of facing the media, which made Mayweather proud.

The 45-year-old went on to say that he always had Davis’ back. He said, “We seem to forget I’m the same one that got on a podium not long ago and went to war for my fighter, I said, ‘Why isn’t Tank on the P4P list?’ When my fighter didn’t make weight, I went to war for my fighter. These are things we seem to forget.”

Floyd Mayweather backs his fighters

In the course of the interview, the former five-division champion was questioned about his commitment to his fighters.

Mayweather emphatically responded, stating he always wants the best for any fighter under the PBC and the Mayweather Promotions banner and claimed that he goes above and beyond for his fighters.

He poured out his passion for his fighters by stating that he pushes harder for them than any other fighter.
