“Fury Is a Joke”: Fans Call Out Tyson Fury Amid Talks of a Potential Showdown Against Zhilei Zhang

Tyson Fury received a lot of flack from the boxing world amidst rumors of a potential fight between him against Zhilei Zhang. For the longest time, it was speculated that Fury would fight Oleksandr Usyk to unify the heavyweight titles. However, the negotiations between the main-event fighters broke down and the fight failed to materialize. 

Meanwhile, Zhilei Zhang defeated the WBO interim heavyweight champion; Joe Joyce last month at Copper Box Arena, London. The victory makes  Zhang a contender for a title fight against Fury. And it is reported that Zhilei Zhang is the frontrunner for Fury’s next fight and the same has been verified by Fury’s promoter. Though, the fans did not welcome this news and made sure to make it evident.

Fans do not welcome potential Tyson Fury vs Zhilei Zhang fight

Bob Arum, Fury’s promoter, confirmed that Zhang is indeed a frontrunner for Fury’s next opponent.

Michael Benson, the online Boxing editor for talkSport, took to Twitter and reported, “Tyson Fury vs Zhilei Zhang is now the frontrunner for Fury’s next fight, Bob Arum has revealed. He said they are trying to finalise the deal this weekend for the WBC heavyweight world title fight in July.”

However, the fans at large were not happy and  called out Fury for not fighting  Uysk instead. Here are a few interesting fan reactions:

A fan named Aye Nizzy called out Fury in a vehement manner. He stated, “Guys a clown mate.”

On the contrary, one fan did welcome this potential bout but had a question. He stated, “Don’t mind this fight If a stay busy fight before Usyk. But is Zhang a wbc ranked fighter?”

On similar lines, a fan named Paul Walker has reasons to welcome this bout. He stated, “I don’t mind that fight at all if it’s not Usyk actually. Zhang beat the man who was in line for the shot and he arguably beat Hrgovic so fair play if he gets a shot”

Another fan called out Fury who stated,”LOOOOOOLSSS FURY IS A JOKE”

Lastly, one fan accused Fury of ducking Usyk. He stated, “embarrasing. ducking use and saudi deal”
