The young gun Gervonta Davis is keen on strengthening his boxing resume by moving to his prime lightweight division once again. He might enter the squared circle in October to face the WBC interim lightweight champ, Joseph Diaz.
In his last fight, Davis made his very first ring appearance at the 140-pound weight class. And he unquestionably showed his true class to one and all against Mario Barrios. This was one of his biggest career wins, and with that, he even claimed the WBA regular super-lightweight title.

Now, the fans might get to see Davis back in action at the 135-pound roster, against a very noteworthy contender in Diaz.
Lance Pugmire shared this news on his official Twitter handle. He wrote, “Told there’s genuine interest in getting @Gervontaa back in the ring perhaps as soon as October. One opponent those on his side want to at least explore is @JosephDiazJr.”

Diaz won the interim strap in his last outing against Javier Fortuna. The fight went till the final bell and ‘Jo Jo’ edged over Fortuna in many departments. As a result, he claimed a career-defining win, and eventually put himself in a position to face the bigwigs of the roster.
That said, Diaz is now in contention to face one of the biggest boxing names plying his trade. A fight between him and Davis will cater to the vast boxing masses. But will there be any doubt about the result?

‘Tank’ is the most aggressive fighter of recent times. With his unmatched power, he has outclassed 25 opponents as a professional. That said, if he’s lined up to face Diaz by October 2021, Davis will put in all the necessary work to maintain his unbeaten record.
However, if Diaz dodges the heat coming off ‘Tank’s hands, then he might turn the tables in his favor. Given how Davis dealt with the bigger ‘El Azteca’ it seems unlikely that Diaz will have an easy time.
