If not the most, but certainly, Welterweight is one of the most intriguing divisions in boxing currently. Bursting at the seams with top-tier talents, it has the best but probably the most anticipated fight in hand. Last year, the excitement of fans and followers seemed boundless when talks of a match between WBC, IBF Welterweight, and WBA (Super) Welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. and WBO Welterweight champion Terence Crawford came about. Outside the division, the two are unarguably among the best strikers of our era. Hence, a fight between the two would have settled the division’s undisputed argument besides being a momentous one for boxing.

But sadly, the talks failed to mutate into reality for unforeseen reasons. Spence Jr. hasn’t fought since April last year. He would be defending the Junior Middleweight / Super Welterweight title from former champion Keith Thurman. There are speculations that he might rather stay at the division than return to the 147 lbs. Therefore, if Terence Crawford agrees to scale up to 154 lbs, fans might have a chance of witnessing a Crawford – Spence Jr. fight.

While the pieces on the chessboard have been on the move, Spence Jr., who enjoys a following of more than 300k on Twitter, shared a video with a message. Undoubtedly a bit of bounce-off was expected.

Early morning yesterday, “The Truth” shared a clip barely lasting five seconds. It shows a street fight wherein an older person, holding something in his left hand, lands a few punches on the face of a bike rider. The clip ends when the latter seems to have pulled out a firearm. The entire incident happened in the middle of traffic.

Spence Jr. wrote, “Peep how he didn’t drop his cup.

While more than 200k viewed the video, the champion’s tweet received over seventy responses. No point in guessing that a few took the opportunity to aim their gun at Spence Jr., especially over the collapsed Crawford fight.

Whether a street fight or a ring, fans will speak their hearts out

@Informated2 couldn’t help himself from shooting a pun. He said a battle between Terence Crawford and Spence Jr. would follow similar lines as the street fight with the older person throwing hay-makers.

@YNot55524882 commented on the street fight. He said the older man landed two neat punches on the biker’s face. Instead of fighting back, the latter resorted to pulling a gun that was too against a much older person!

@49ergang843 highlighted the incident, roughly half an hour’s drive from his place. He said it occurred in the coastal city of Savannah in Georgia and believed the older person was a tourist. He is happy that the latter lived to see another day.

@Duriel1000 took the opportunity to address Spence Jr. He asked whether the latter is going to break up from the existing titles and scale up or whether he will attempt to fight and knock out Crawford. All that @Duriel1000 wants is to see them indulge in the good old-fashioned fight!

@TonyCha28030151 termed the punches the older person threw weak, barely impacting. He suggested keeping the drinks aside and fighting freely would have been better.

@terrell_tywon was among those who didn’t spare Spence Jr. He told the champion that Crawford would beat him down in the street. But even in that scenario, Spence Jr. may not have the Hennessey bottle to fall.

@paychex_malone seemed unhappy with the bike rider. He lamented why the latter felt the need to pull a gun. He should be using his hands to deal with the worst situation.

Reactions to the clip asides, Errol Spence Jr. could still fight with Terence Crawford. He would have to scale down to the 147 lbs division for that. Per WBA-mandated regulations, he will receive a grace period of sixty days after the Keith Thurman fight to decide on the massive battle. Else he will have to go for a title defense against the winner of the Vergil Ortiz Jr. versus Eimantus Stanionis fight. Finally, he has the option of moving to Super Welterweight for good. But he would have to hand over the current titles held at the Welterweight division.
