The foxy trainer especially knows Alvarez too well since he turned professional at age 15 to allow a challenger to turn the tables. No wonder he receives widespread admiration for his craft, even from corners against whom he crossed swords once.

So Leonard Ellerbe was speaking to FightHype, and the conversation began with the month-end megafight. The Mayweather Promotions CEO said that Canelo Alvarez is going to the fight with a chip on his shoulder. Significantly, the last few bouts haven’t been up to par. He said he’s a hundred percent, um, and I think [that] we’re going to see the best version of where he’s at right now in him, but he’s got a tough task at hand with Mel Charlo…” Ellerbe also highlighted his displeasure at how many people were counting out ‘Iron Man’ so early.

He then mentioned that Canelo Alvarez might become a bit more vulnerable. But, on the other hand, his paychecks kept growing. Given how it boils down to money eventually, the Mexican icon has made several hundred million dollars on the route. And Ellerbe gave a big shout-out to Eddy Reynoso’s contribution. He even called for the latter to be adjudged ‘Manager of the Year.’

He said, “Eddie has done a phenomenal job with uh managing his career and um extracting as much money [as] you know from each and every fight, um he’s uh he’s done a phenomenal job, and he [doesn’t] get a lot of credit that he deserves, and he should definitely [be] [the] manager of the year…”

Eddy Reynoso is a qualified coach by trade. At age 22, he received the CONADE (Certification System of the Sports Coach) certification to become a boxing trainer. It should be highlighted that it’s not only Canelo Alvarez’s career that he helped build. Oscar “Chololo” Larios, Nobuhiro Ishida, “Negrito” Silvestre, and Esmeralda Moreno are among many other world-class boxers fortunate to have been under Reynoso’s tutelage.
