“He’s Almost 40 Years Old”: Benavidez Sr. Says David Benavidez Is Ready to Face ‘Very Dangerous Fighter’ in Artur Beterbiev to Make History

David Benavidez has an array of exciting opponents lined up. The former two-time super middleweight champion has proven to be one of the best boxers in the division. In March of this year, Benavidez squared off against Caleb Plant and defeated him in an impressive showdown via a unanimous decision. The president of the WBA made it clear that the “Mexican Monster” is now mandatory for the undisputed super-middleweight champion, Canelo Alvarez.

The fight between Alvarez and Benavidez has not just been anticipated but also demanded by the boxing world. Both competitors have never been defeated in the super-middleweight division. Not to mention, Benavidez has made his desire to fight Alvarez public, but the fight never came to fruition. However, in a recent turn of events, Benavidez’s father is of the opinion that his Benavidez can face unified-light heavyweight champion, Artur Beterbiev, next.

Benavidez Sr. reveals who David Benavidez can fight next

Many boxing purists and fans expect Benavidez to fight Alvarez next after his victory against Plant. However, his father, Benavidez Sr. thinks that his son can move up in the division and fight the unified light-heavyweight champion, Artur Beterbiev. The light-heavyweight champion is 38 years old and fighting out of Canada.

He has a celebrated career of 19 victories with no defeats. Even more impressive is the fact that he has a 100% knock-out ratio. His most recent win was against Anthony Yarde back in January, which he finished in the eighth round. He might be 38 years old but is still a formidable opponent, and his recent bouts are a testament to that.

Though, Benavidez Sr. is confident that his son would move up and defeat Beterbiev. As per the“Boxing scene”, he stated, “He’s a very dangerous fighter, but David is ready to take this challenge and make history in both weights.”

He also expressed that even though Beterbiev is a formidable fighter, he has aged and is not as much of a threat to Benavidez as one would assume. He adds, “He’s a f*cking animal, but you gotta understand, he’s almost 40 years old, bro.”

Mike Tyson on David Benavidez’s fighting style

Mike Tyson is known for his fierce style of fighting; to the extent that many consider him to be the “Baddest man to ever live”. He weighed on Benavidez’s fighting style. In one of the episodes of his podcast, the former heavyweight champion stated this about Benavidez: “He’s a killer. He’s a killer. He ain’t got no finesse or stuff.”

He adds, “He constantly hit, consistent, most dangerous, he ain’t gonna stop”. It is safe to say that the legendary boxer is fond of Benavidez and his skill set.
