“Usyk has major plans right now. He’s only focused on Tyson Fury and I get that and if it’s up to me, Deontay will fight Anthony Joshua next,” he said.

Scott was then asked if he were Joshua’s coach, would he want ‘AJ’ to face Wilder? The boxing trainer replied by stating that this fight should be made and also shared his thoughts on the match-up.

“Absolutely I would because one the fight was supposed to have been happened. Two, you know he just lost to Oleksandr Usyk two times so let’s get these big fights made. To go against the specimen called Deontay Wilder you may need to build yourself up and I get it but the advantages and the things I seen Deontay do,” he said.

Moreover, he even claimed that if a fight between the two happened Joshua would get knocked out by the third round. “It’s a three-round fight in my opinion. Deontay is just not a big guy that punches hard but he is slow. No it comes fast and if you can’t get out of the way you’re in trouble and I believe AJ is in trouble if he signs the contract.’ he added.

This fight has been rumored for a long time when the two were undefeated champions. However, times have changed since then with both of them suffering major losses with a final fight between the two only makes more sense than ever.

Joshua shares his thoughts on a fight with Deontay Wilder

The former British champion seemed confident that he will face Wilder next year. In an interview with GQ, he was asked about the chances of the two meeting next year. Joshua replied in a confident way claiming that the fight will happen next year.

“That was the past, why it didn’t happen? It will definitely happen. I always say ‘we’re in the same division, we’re in the same era, that means the fight has to happen’. 2023 is looming, it’s a big year for boxing. We’re all at the top of our division and that fight will definitely happen and bring a lot of light to the heavyweight division,” he said.

Joshua is now at the lowest point of his career with back-to-back losses. However, if he can put up a fight with Wilder, he might just have another chance at getting back his championships.
