“I Will Happily Take Him Apart”- Josh Taylor Opens Up on a Potential Fight Against Teofimo Lopez

Unified 140 lbs champion Josh Taylor is pretty sure he will overpower Teofimo Lopez if they ever step through the ropes against each other. However, that’s not his primary goal. Still fresh from a win over Jose Ramirez, ‘The Tartan Tornado’ might look forward to exploring the welterweight (147 lbs) division in the coming years.
Hence ‘Take Over’ Lopez hasn’t made it to his fighting radar yet. Josh Taylor believes Lopez has to test himself more at 135 lbs, against the stars of the division like Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia. But in the future, he might consider having a scrap against lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez.
Taylor will defend his all four belts against Jack Catterall in December. Ahead of the fight, he did an interview with Michelle Joye Phelps of Behind The Gloves to share his views on a possible fight against the unified lightweight champion.

“He [Lopez] has had one good win. It be a very good win over Lomachenko. But I still don’t think he is the daddy at that weight. Still got a lot of things to prove. And if he comes up and that fight happens, I will happily take him apart and bring him back down to the earth well. I will love it,” said Josh Taylor.
Meanwhile, Teofimo Lopez will defend his three lightweight belts against George Kambosos Jr. on October 4 at MSG Theatres in New York. The undefeated star vanquished Vasyl Lomachenko in his last appearance. On beating Kambosos Jr, he will rightly be considered one of the best lightweight prodigies of the current roster.
While Lopez and Taylor both have 4 titles in their respective divisions, there’s a massive contrast in their standings.

‘Tartan Tornado’ Josh Taylor is the undisputed super lightweight champion, with all four major titles under his name. However, Teofimo Lopez is yet to conquer every world title at 135 lbs. Devin Haney is the WBC world lightweight champion right now and Teofimo Lopez holds the franchise title. So, ‘Take Over’ is yet to take over the WBC board.
