The most-anticipated rivalry in boxing history witnessed the fights that saw fighters from two generations meet in the ring. The rivalry which started between heavyweight greats Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier was passed down to their daughters. In 1971, the legends met for the first time with the WBA, WBC, and The Ring heavyweight titles on the line.

The fight created unbelievable excitement among fans. The event turned out to be so big that it captured the attention of international audiences. Frazier won the bout by decision. Despite losing, Ali emerged as a hero. Later, they fought twice, and each time Ali defeated Frazier, seeking revenge for the first loss.

After decades, their daughters, Laila Ali and Jacqui Frazier-Lyde, did justice to their father’s trilogy by deciding to meet in the ring. At that time, Ali was 9-0, and Lyde was 7-0. Like their fathers, they were undefeated. Though there was a huge age gap, Ali, 23, was 16 years younger than Lyde.

Next, she added the struggles she faced during the fight and wrote, “I learned a lot about myself that night! I regret not having a rematch. The crowd got a great show that night!”
