In the world of boxing, injuries are inevitable and unexpected. At times, a boxer may sustain an injury right before a bout that may adjourn the fight indefinitely. This is precisely what happened with Dan Azeez before his world title eliminator fight in the light-heavyweight division against Joshua Buatsi. The light-heavyweight bout was set to go down in London, United Kingdom on Saturday. However, Azeez was forced to pull out of the bout due to a trapped nerve in the back.

However, Eddie Hearn did not buy the fact that Azeez might be injured. This did not sit well with the light-heavyweight boxer. So without further ado, let’s take a look at what Hearn had to say and how Azeez responded to it.

Eddie Hearn does not buy Dan Azeez’s injury update; receives a hostile response

According to Hearn, the bout did not attract attraction from the fans at large. Subsequently, the organizers wanted to adjourn the event but did not want the reason to be revealed. Although, he did not allege that the injury was faked, however, there was a hint of skepticism in his statement. . As per Talksport, he stated, “This is just what I heard – wasn’t going particularly well and it was unlikely to take place.” He added, “Whether that was true or not, and he ended up getting an injury.”

Moreover, Azeez got to know about Hearn’s comments, and in his response, he vehemently criticized Hearn for making such allegations that jeopardized his integrity as a boxer.

In addition, he considers it a low blow and thinks Hearn is just trying to get one up on his promoter, Ben Shalom. Reflecting on the same, he took to X and stated, “For someone of his stature to put a narrative like that out about me is distasteful. It’s malicious as well, and harmful. While he’s probably having a little snigger with his mates, ‘Haha, we’re getting one over Ben Shalom,’ he’s messing up my image. I’m from a community where a lot of things are happening that are bad. I’m trying be some sort of role model. It’s messing up my image.”
