This year has not been the best of ones for YouTube sensation Jake Paul. The plans to get his boxing career back on track were hindered after his fight against Hasim Rahman Jr. was canceled. Both fighters came out with their own reasons as to why the bout was canceled and both sides blamed the other for the fiasco.

However, many fans and pundits speculated that low ticket sales leading up to the fight were the reason the bout was eventually scraped. The Problem Child was having none of this as he came to address these rumors and defended the event.
Jake Paul addresses ticket sale rumors
In the inaugural episode of Paul’s latest show BS w/Jake Paul, he came out and refuted the claim that the fight got called off due to low ticket sales. He stated that it was an ‘absurd’ claim and also revealed the number of tickets sold.
“I’m pretty mad, I’m pretty p***ed off that the fact the people on the internet think that this fight was canceled because of ticket sales. They think oh Jake was sacred to fight. To me that’s absurd, so I’m just gonna break down some facts for you. The ticket sales were at $1.5 million before the week of the fight, okay?” He said.
Paul compares his ticket sales to a One Direction concert
Moreover, to put things in perspective, Paul then compared the sales of his fight to a One Direction concert. He claimed that the fight sold more tickets than the world-famous band and was on track to reach $2 million in sales.” You sell the most amount of tickets the week of the fight. To put it in perspective for you, One Direction, one of the biggest boy bands in the world, only sells a million dollars when they go to Madison Square Garden. We were $500,000 above that before the week of the fight. My gross average ticket sales are around $2 million, so we were on track to actually beat that.” He added.

If we can take Paul’s word, selling $2 million in ticket sales is a massive achievement. There are many world-class events that fail to come close to selling these many tickets. However, Paul did manage to get this revenue, which might just give you an idea of his drawing power.
