Jake Paul Believes Tommy Fury Rematch Has to “Happen at Some Point”

On March 2, Jake Paul is looking forward to once again proving his prowess as he faces Ryan Bourland, a former Golden Gloves champion. The fight in San Juan, Puerto Rico will be his fight against a professional boxer. However, one particular fight still remains in the boxing fans’ minds.

The fight the fans have been waiting for is his rematch against Tommy Fury. Their last fight featured Paul’s debut bout against a professional, and as expected the difference in skills was out there for all to see. But since then, Paul has fought two more times and with the improvement in his skills, he just may be able to turn the tables. Here’s what Paul thinks about the rematch.

While the possibility of a rematch remains up in the air, it seems that both fighters involved are open to it. In an interview with Boxing Social, he pointed out how people can grow tremendously in an entire year. On the possibility of a rematch, he stated, “Yeah for sure, you know I think it has to happen at some point.”

Moreover, he claimed that this time if he stepped into the ring, he would be totally different from the last time. He added, “You know so much can change in a year and I encourage everyone at home to really feel that and you could become a whole new person”. While acknowledging the passage of time, he feels the impact of the experience far surpasses a mere year. He pointed out how “it feels a lot longer than a year ago for me.” Whether the rematch with Fury materializes remains to be seen, but one thing is clear, Jake Paul is determined to prove he’s no longer the same fighter. In the meantime, he still hasn’t let go of the desire to face Canelo Alvarez.

Paul hints towards a Canelo fight

Jake Paul downplayed the claim that his potential fight with Canelo Alvarez would be boxing’s biggest event. However, he still believes it’s a massive matchup, confidently stating, “It’s gotta be top five.”

Fueling his belief, Paul points to Canelo’s age, suggesting the 33-year-old champion is nearing retirement. “He’s coming to the end of his career where he’s gonna want to make a lot of money,” Paul declared. He further stressed this point by mentioning Canelo’s recent departure from PBC, suggesting the Mexican star is seeking lucrative opportunities.

Paul remains persistent in his pursuit of the fight. “I think it will happen at some point,” he said, citing past discussions with Canelo. “So Canelo, once again, I wanna fight you, brother. Let’s make it happen. You can run, but you can’t hide,” Paul concluded, urging Canelo to accept the challenge. It remains to be seen if Canelo, who has previously dismissed the idea, will change his stance.
