At this point, Jake Paul really can’t catch a break. After his dream fight with Canelo Alvarez slipped away, he managed to coax Gervonta Davis into an exhibition bout. But even that plan ran into hurdles. The Georgia Athletic Commission refused to sanction the fight, forcing Paul’s team, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), to relocate the event to Miami, Florida. Now, however, Davis’ actions have led to the fight’s complete collapse.

The Netflix-exclusive event, originally set for November 14 at Miami’s Kaseya Center, has been canceled after Davis was sued over an alleged domestic incident. Reports suggest that Paul could still fight someone else in December, with Ryan Garcia, Terence Crawford, Nate Diaz, and Francis Ngannou reportedly being approached. MVP initially announced an investigation into the matter—an investigation that now appears to have concluded.

Jake Paul didn’t want to give a platform to Gervonta Davis
“Our team has worked closely with all parties to navigate this situation responsibly,” said Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, on Monday. “While we will not be moving forward with this event, our plan still remains for Jake Paul to headline an event on Netflix in 2025.” Bidarian further promised updates on Jake Paul’s future, with a date, location, and opponent to be announced soon.
Shortly after, Paul took to X to vent his frustration toward Gervonta Davis. “God has a plan. Always,” he wrote first. “Gervonta Davis is an actual walking human piece of garbage. Working with him is an absolute nightmare,” he added in a follow-up post. “The unprofessionalism, the bizarre requests, the showing up hours late to shoots. To the numerous arrests and related accusations, and lawsuits. If you support this man, you support the most vile sin a man can commit.”

“I didn’t want to give this woman abuser a platform to grow his fans and to grow his bank account,” he added in the post. “My company champions women. I’m so sorry to everyone involved. Mostly to the undercard fighters, to my team… who worked so hard prepping for this fight… It’s scary that devilish men like this can rise to the top of culture and sports, including in positions of power.”

“I hope you people moving forward look beyond his fake streetwear pieces ‘SWAG’ and search for something deeper to be a fan of,” Paul concluded. Notably, fans who purchased tickets for the Paul vs. Davis fight through Ticketmaster will receive a full refund to their original payment method within 14–21 days.
Still, Jake Paul’s frustration is understandable, given that Gervonta Davis is once again facing serious allegations. His ex-girlfriend, Courtney Rossel, has accused him of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Unfortunately, this isn’t Davis’ first run-in with the law—or with domestic violence allegations. In May 2023, he was sentenced to 90 days of house arrest and three years of probation, set to end in May 2026, for a 2020 hit-and-run case. Beyond that, Davis has faced multiple arrests related to domestic violence.
He shares children with two women, and reports indicate he has allegedly assaulted both, most recently, earlier this year.
Gervonta Davis was arrested for domestic violence in June
The WBA lightweight champion was arrested on July 11 in Miami Beach on domestic violence charges stemming from an incident on Father’s Day, June 15. According to reports, Gervonta Davis allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend, the mother of his two children, during a verbal altercation. However, the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office later confirmed that the case was dismissed.
“This case was dropped as the victim is declining to prosecute per her victim attorney, Lindsey Chase, Esq., and her sentiments were directly confirmed by the Assistant State Attorney handling the prosecution,” the office said in a statement to TMZ Sports.
It further added, “The witness to the incident, who is the victim’s mother, also failed to cooperate and failed, after being subpoenaed for a pre-file conference on Thursday, Aug. 7. Followed up attempts to contact the witness [mother] via phone were unsuccessful.”
Having said that, it appears Jake Paul has grown tired of Davis’ issues with the law. But it would be interesting to see whether Gervonta Davis faces any serious consequences for his actions this time. What did you make of all this?
