Katie Taylor and Chantelle Cameron went toe-to-toe against one another in the boxing ring this Saturday in Dublin, Ireland. Taylor took the challenge head-on and moved up to 140 lbs super lightweight, with aspirations to become a two-weight undisputed champion. She was even training with the UFC legend Conor McGregor in preparation for the fight. However, her dreams were shattered as she faced the first defeat of her career at the hands of Cameron.
The event was a success more or less, the only regret for the fans was the cancellation of the co-main fight hours before the fight night. Jake Paul who manages Amanda Serrano, who previously lost against Taylor, managed to use this opportunity to send a message. He took the chance to commend Amanda Serrano’s weight jump.

Jake Paul commends Amanda Serrano’s weight jump
Amanda Serrano belongs to Most Valued Promotions which is under Jake Paul. This ensures that whenever Serrano comes under fire, Paul is there to defend her. He previously even defended her when UFC fighter turned analyst Chael Sonnen criticized Serrano. Paul took to Twitter as he praised Serrano. He gave an example of Taylor’s defeat and shared that he hopes people realize the difficulty of going up two weight classes to fight an opponent. He then said that seeing the result, one can see that going up even one weight class is hard enough. Paul ended the message with a simple, “Respect to all.”
I hope people understand now how tough it was for Amanda Serrano to go up two weight classes and put on the performance she did against Katie Taylor. Going up one weight class is hard enough as we saw tonight. Respect to all.

Amanda Serrano previously lost her bout against Katie Taylor that took place on April 30 last year. She lost via split decision and Taylor retained her status as the undisputed lightweight world champion. She was supposed to be Taylor’s opponent today. Unfortunately, the Puerto Rican boxer sustained an injury which lead to the cancellation of the rematch.

Cameron defeated Taylor with the following scores on the scorecard – 95-95, 96-94, and 96-94. The fight appeared to be a close call, and it went all the way to the 10th round. However, a lot of fans also criticized the judge who scored the fight a draw. Infact, Chantelle Cameron herself was afraid that she would lose the fight. She said, “I had seen it before in boxing, it had happened to my team before. So yeah, I was petrified that I was not going to get the decision”.
