Last year on BS w/ Jake Paul, analyst Stephen A. Smith called Jake Paulcrazy” for wanting to fight the undisputed Super-Middleweight champion, Canelo Alvarez. However, in his reply, Paul argued that he was “beyond ready” to face the boxer with a professional record of 2 losses and 60 wins. Meanwhile, Smith continued to argue that it was absurd to think Paul could face Alvarez having fought retired UFC fighters. In this context, while Jake did not give up on his dream to face Canelo, Jeff Mayweather, the uncle of Floyd Mayweather predicted a potential contest between Saul and ‘The Problem Child’.

In his latest interaction with The Mayweather Channel, Jeff Mayweather acknowledged Jake Paul’s abilities as a fighter. Additionally, he hoped Alvarez vs. Paul would take place once ‘The Problem Child’ begins to fight legitimate boxers. Well, here is what Jeff said.

Before the fight against Ryan Bourland, Jake Paul predicted a second-round stoppage. However, ‘The Problem Child’ stopped Bourland in the opening round of the fight. Following his 9th professional win, Paul declared he was “ready for bigger things“. Therefore, reiterating his wish to be a world champion in the sport, Paul asked Canelo Alvarez to “stop ducking” him. In doing so, he proposed a “Puerto Rico vs. Mexico” fight against Canelo Alvarez. On that note, Jeff Mayweather answered how Paul would manage to hang in there with someone as good as Canelo.

Additionally, being asked if Alvarez and Paul would ever share the ring, Jeff said, “I think that eventually at some point, he’s [Jake Paul] going to have to fight a legitimate fighter with a legitimate record. I think his day is going to come when he has to fight someone that really can fight. And that’s when his heart is going to be tested.

In this context, it is worth mentioning that before the Bourland fight, Paul was hopeful that he would face Canelo at some point. By stating Alvarez was coming to the end of his career, he tried to lure the Mexican with “a lot of money“. But, Canelo maintained silence. With that said, would you like to see Alvarez share the ring with Paul in the future? Additionally, do you agree that Paul has punching power? Let us know in the comments below.

I feel combat sport is a representation of life inside a cage or ring. There is fear, struggle, and the will to be free. It has a poetic quality.
