Probably the array of guests and the experiences they share keeps the audience glued to Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson. The eponymous show would be celebrating its fourth anniversary in a few days. It commenced its journey on January 15, 2019, and now boasts subscriptions showing signs of reaching the million mark soon.

Fronting the show with a co-host, “The Baddest Man on the Planet,” has smoke filling the studio. But, at the same time, he talks with interesting people, including celebrities, athletes, and many other famous personalities. The conversation sometimes takes amusing turns. For instance, the latest guest on the show apparently had a thing or two to say about a mentor who stood beyond the twenty-mark in Tyson’s personal list not so long ago.

Rapper Tyga recalls Lil Wayne took him under his wings.

Several big names from the world of rap music, such as Snoop Dog, Eminem, and Cordae, have graced Mike Tyson’s show. Continuing with the convention, Michael Ray Nguyen-Stevenson, or more famously, Tyga, joined the former champion and DJ Whoo Kid. The Compton, California-born rapper of Jamaican and Vietnamese heritage, began his career in 2007. He is often in the news for his personal lifestyle as well. The rapper grabbed worldwide attention when news of him dating globally known social media celebrity Kylie Jenner broke.

The conversation started with Whoo Kid asking Tyga how he managed his social media presence sans any team. Tyga responded plainly that it is just a matter of getting habitual to a routine, more so when you do it for extended periods.

Soon Tyson asked, “When did you come on the music scene?” And Tyga answered that he was seventeen when he started alongside who probably many consider being among the greatest rapper of all time, Lil Wayne.

Tyga explained, It was it was I just learned I learned uh, the hustle because like Wayne’s not a person that he didn’t he don’t really like talk not much at all much you know what I’m saying he’s not very like…Yeah, he’s very like, you know so you got to kind of like just pick up on his ways and how he moves, and you know, I feel like the work ethic I learned from him you know…”

Interestingly, a few months ago, Iron Mike, during one of Hotboxin’s episodes, defended Gillie Da Kid, a Philadelphia-born rapper. The latter reportedly ghostwrote for record label Cash Money Records and their star performer Lil Wayne. But he claimed later to have never received any credit for his work.

Upon hearing this, Tyson said, Lil Wayne! Evil! Yeah, he is off the hook.”

Later, Whoo Kid wanted to know from Tyga whether he got disturbed like many present-day rappers who frequently complained about making less money. Tyga affirmed his position on the issue. He replied that while the present generation achieves ‘viral’ benchmarks, per his views, that doesn’t necessarily lead to improvements as an artist, which to him is more consequential.
