WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and former unified champion Anthony Joshua have long been touted to face each other. The two are the best heavyweights in the United Kingdom, with many fans wanting to see a fight between the two heavyweight greats. However, despite multiple efforts, a fight between them is looking like a farfetched possibility.

Back in 2022, the two engaged in a long back-and-forth after Joshua’s loss to Oleksandr Usyk for the second time. Fury came out with an offer for ‘AJ’ to fight last year but revoked it after talks broke down between the two camps. ‘The Gypsy King’ instead faced Derek Chisora in a dominating victory to defend his WBC title. Now, it seems that Fury is finally done with the prospect of a fight with his fellow countryman as he gave one final death blow to this potential contest.

In an interview with the SportBible, Fury revealed that he had no interest in facing Joshua. He stated that ‘AJ’ was dead to him and that he will not negotiate any deals for a fight after what happened last year.

I don’t even go there anymore. No interest in any AJ questions. Zero. Man’s dead in my eyes. There’s no business between me and him to be done. Finished” said Fury.

It looks like the WBC champion has not changed his feelings for Joshua since the fight talks broke off. However, he has bigger issues to worry about with his undisputed title unification bout against Oleksandr Usyk just months away. Despite this, there is one way that Joshua can fight Fury.

TalkSport’s boxing editor Michael Benson revealed that Fury vs Usyk is being targeted for April 29th. However, Fury will fight on this date even if it is not against the Ukrainian boxer. If for some reason, Usyk is not able to fight on this date, Fury might choose another opponent. Moreover, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that Joshua could be booked as the replacement for Usyk if he is not able to complete it.

Another contender that has emerged in this conversation is Deontay Wilder, who could face Fury for the fourth time. However, given how active Usyk has become in mocking Fury on social media and the prestige of an undisputed title bout might just be enough for this fight to take place.
