After the odd spectacle that was Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul, The Maverick accused the former champion of not paying his share after the fight took place. This was not all as Mayweather stated, that someone from Paul’s team had reached out to him for a rematch.

However, Paul responded to these claims and stated that he would sue Mayweather for ‘scamming’ him. He also went on to claim that Mayweather was lying about the rematch and no one from his team reached out to Money. This has been a long-standing controversy between the two and, according to Paul, he has not fully been paid to this day.
However, it seems that UFC president Dana White might have the answer to this question as he, along with Mike Tyson, revealed why Paul might not have been paid his share
Dana White, along with Tyson, made an appearance on the Full Send podcast where he was asked by the host about his thoughts on the Paul situation.
“People always bring up the fighter s**t, the fighter pay with the UFC, but isn’t Logan complaining that he didn’t get his checks from Floyd? Is that like a boxing issue, a boxing thing?” He asked White, who claimed that although UFC fighters weren’t making as much as their boxing counterparts, they were always paid for their fights. “You’ll never hear that these guys say I want to make 30 million, I didn’t get paid enough, you don’t ever get guys going yeah they didn’t pay me yet ever,” he added.
Moreover, he then revealed why boxers face problems regarding their purses in exhibition fights and stated it was due to bouts not being sanctioned by an athletic commission, “What happens when you go in and you do these fights and make them and Hunter correct if I’m wrong, you do these fights that are exhibitions or whatever the commission isn’t overseeing it. So let’s say I did a fight with Mike. I got Mike fighting Francis or something. The athletic commission gets the money upfront so they pay the fighters. So they don’t have to wait,” he added.
White reveals the problem with boxing promoters
This was not all as he added that this was a problem in boxing even in the past where promotions would cut a percentage of the fighter’s pay if it didn’t do well financially and stated that fighters should fight in Nevada or California due to their strict laws on fighter pay. “That was a big problem in the past is that these boxing promoters would come in and they wouldn’t make as much money as they thought they were going to so they would stiff the fighters and not pay the guys and that’s why there are these different regulations in different states and that’s why you know I don’t want to shit on any other states but they want to fight in like Nevada or California,” White concluded.

Tyson also agreed with this statement that these were the best places to book a fight. White is an influential figure in the fight game and his word on this situation does hold some value.

However, it is still not official whether Paul’s claims are true or not, as he is yet to take any legal action against the former five-division world champion. Do you agree with White’s statement? Let us know in the comments below.
