There is no denying that Floyd Mayweather is not just a spectacular fighter but also an equally extraordinary businessman. The champ is currently preparing for yet another exhibition bout. He is set to face Japanese MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan on September 25, 2022. Meanwhile, the retired boxer opened up about the possibility of bringing an NBA team to Las Vegas.

Mayweather was in an interview with ESNEWS. In conversation, the reporter asked him about the possibility of bringing an NBA team to Las Vegas. And, what doing so would mean to him.

In response, Mayweather seemed confident about owning an NBA team. He said, “I truly believe if I do or I don’t. Which I’m gonna have a team, whether it’s in Vegas or not in Vegas. I will have a team. I’ve been working on that for a good while now. So you know, I’ve been working behind the scenes. I didn’t want to bring it out until it was engraved in stone.”

When asked if he would prefer to have it in Vegas. Mayweather answered in the affirmative while also stating that he will always pick Vegas first.

This statement comes at a time when Mayweather opened up about his real estate investments. Moreover, he also revealed that he is working on a $20 Billion deal with his partners in Miami.

Floyd Mayweather wishes to own an NBA team

‘Money’ Mayweather has always spoken about his love for NBA. And, he is also a regular presence courtside at NBA games. So it comes as no doubt that the champ wishes to own an NBA team.

It was mentioned that Las Vegas and Seattle are considered frontrunners for expansion. Talking about the same, NBA commissioner Adam Silver said, “One of our focuses as the league office is always on how do you create better competition. So that’s one of the things that we continue to think about as we consider expansion.”

While Mayweather did not reveal much about owning an NBA team, he mentioned that his team is currently in talks with the NBA to bring an NBA team to Vegas.
