Garcia addresses potential fight with Maxi Hughes
Garcia took to Twitter and announced that there were indeed talks going on about the fight. He stated he contacted Hughes and his team for a fight to stay active before he could finally face Tank. However, he claimed that the talks fell through. He also stated that it was good for him to stay active in the ring and that was the intention behind all this.
I just wanted to clear the air on Maxi Hughes I wanted to keep active so I asked if he wanted to fight before I fight gervonta but team said that wasn’t possible. Staying in the ring is good for me and i didn’t want to wait that long that’s where my head was.

This fight isn’t looking like it could happen, as Garcia already admitted that he won’t be going back to compete at 135-pounds. However, this does look like an interesting matchup if The Flash got one more fight before facing Gervonta Davis.

Ryan Garcia vs Maxi Hughes
Hughes is currently the IBO lightweight champion and has a professional record of 25-5-2 with 5 KOs under his belt. Although the British boxer has had 5 losses, he is currently on a six-fight unbeaten streak and his last loss came against Liam Walsh in 2019. He last defended his title against Ryan Walsh with a UD victory over him back in March.

Garcia, on the other hand, is still undefeated in the ring with a record of 23-0 with 19 KOs. He is currently one of the hottest young prospects in boxing with notable victories over Luke Campbell and Emmanuel Tagoe. A fight between the two could be an excellent test for Garcia to improve his skills before facing Tank and a chance for Hughes to pull off an upset victory.
