Ahead of their fight on the 22nd of April in 2023, Ryan Garcia bugged Gervonta Davis, now Abdul Wahid after converting to Islam, with his friend requests. In an interview with ESNEWS, ‘KingRy’ hoped that after his fight against Davis, he and ‘Tank’ would become best friends. Meanwhile, Gervonta Davis disapproved of becoming friends with ‘KingRy’. Likewise, in his reply on 360 with Speedy Morman, Davis called Garcia “soft” and advised the latter to quit boxing.

Anyway, after the fight was over, Garcia was seen exchanging phone numbers with Davis. On the other hand, out of respect for Garcia, Davis said ‘KingRy’ was the best fighter he had fought in his career. But now, Garcia has revealed that ‘Tank’ had duped him with a wrong number.

Ryan Garcia laments he cannot ring Gervonta Davis

Ahead of the fight in Las Vegas, Ryan Garcia had claimed he would require only a left hook to break Davis’s jaw and put ‘Tank’ to sleep. “I just see you on the floor with a broken jaw,” ‘KingRy’ had said. On the other hand, Gervonta Davis promised, “I touch that jaw, I’m telling you, you’re going to sleep.” In addition, ‘Tank’ called Garcia delusional as he believed the latter lacked the fundamentals. However, ‘KingRy’ promised to end the fight “quick“.

But, as fate would have it, in the seventh round of the fight, Gervonta Davis hit Garcia with a brutal body shot and made him quit. Anyway, after the fight was over, Garcia got what he wanted – not a KO but Davis’ phone number [or so he had thought]. However, lately, Garcia revealed he could not ring ‘Tank’ Davis. “He got a problem with me for some reason. Bro, he literally gave me his number. That s**t was a fake number. That’s a weird s**t. That’s weird,” complained ‘KingRy’ ahead of his upcoming fight with Devin Haney on April 20th for the WBC Super-Lightweight title.
