In the lead-up to their highly anticipated clash this weekend, Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia have been engaging in a war of words on social media. The latest development in this back-and-forth is Garcia’s claim that Davis was knocked out during sparring in Floyd Mayweather’s gym.
The two long-standing rivals also made a ‘winner takes all’ bet during the session. However, before things got to this point, some interesting details about the sparring sessions taking place in Mayweather’s gym were revealed.

Ryan Garcia makes some bold claims about Gervonta Davis’ sparring sessions
This accusation was made during an Instagram Live session with Kai Cenat. However, it was initially ‘Tank’ Davis who was the one provoking Garcia. The WBA champion asked ‘KingRy’ whether he was stopped in a sparring session. “You didn’t get stopped in the gym?” asked Davis. Despite this, Garcia dismissed ‘Tank’s’ claims.
Garcia would then go on and ask Davis, whether he got knocked out by a ‘Russian’ in Mayweather’s gym. However, Davis would also deny that these claims were true. “Didn’t you get knocked out by a Russian dude in Floyd’s gym? They say you got knocked out cold,” said Garcia. “No,” Davis replied.
It’s worth noting that sparring sessions are typically private affairs, and what happens in the gym stays in the gym. So it’s difficult to verify either fighter’s claims without independent witnesses or video evidence. However, this exchange has certainly added to the drama and anticipation surrounding the upcoming bout between Davis and Garcia.
Gervonta Davis touts Floyd Mayweather as ‘the greatest of all time’
Davis has had a rocky relationship with ‘TBE’. Despite being his mentor and guiding him to the pinnacle of the sport, Mayweather has not had the best of relationships with his protege over the last couple of months. However, ‘Tank’ still holds ‘Money’ Mayweather in very high regard even touting him as the best boxer ever. Speaking with Showtime at the arrival of the press conference Davis revealed that he tried to learn from Mayweather often watching his fights as well.
