In 2018, after the rematch with Gennady Golovkin, Canelo Alvarez stepped inside the ring with Rocky Fielding at 168. In addition to being 12cm taller than Alvarez, Fielding had an 18cm reach advantage. Ahead of the contest, in an interview with Sky Sports, Fielding admitted that he “got this fear factor” going up against Alvarez. However, the British boxer believed his nerves would push him and subsequently allow him “all that underdog stuff“.

Contrary to Fielding’s expectation, Canelo Alvarez outperformed the former. Despite the height and reach disadvantage, the Mexican boxer was able to punish Fielding with some mean hands to the body. After the fourth time Canelo forced Fielding to take a knee, the referee intervened and called it a day.

Ahead of his upcoming fight with Jermell Charlo, PBC Boxing Champions took to X and celebrated Alvarez’s performance against Fielding. As per PBC, Alvarez’s power cannot be questioned. To borrow their term, the Mexican boxer “bulldozed Rocky Fielding in 2RDs” with his body shots. Following PBC’s post, a fan claimed that Rocky Fielding was “an utter embarrassment that night“.

However, one did not blame Fielding for taking a knee. In their opinion, “Canelo has a cannon on him“.

On the other hand, a fan is of the opinion that Canelo, who thinks it is possible to face ‘Bud’ one day, “will make sure Terence Crawford stays in his division“.
