Former lightweight champion, Teofimo Lopez, is looking for resurrection after losing his unified belt to George Kambosos Jr, on November 2021 in New York. His unbeaten record is broken and Lopez is seemingly facing some harsh criticisms. However, he still has his eyes on the other 135 lbs contenders and isn’t shying away from messing with them.
Ryan Garcia, who has just split ways with the trainer, Eddy Reynoso, grabbed some opinion from Lopez, who hinted at joining forces with Team Canelo. After more than three years of working together, Garcia ducked Reynoso’s stable to assign Joe Cusumano as his new trainer.

Reacting to it, Teofimo Lopez exclusively told ESNews, “Hey man, it might be because of some news they have been saying, you know about me and Eddy Reynoso.”
“To be continued.”
The ‘Take Over,’ further added, “I love the connection. I have talked to Canelo a few times.”
Following his loss at 135 lbs, Lopez has vowed to move up to 140 and be an undisputed champion over there. Well, Josh Taylor is currently the champion at super lightweight, holding all four belts under his name. If Lopez wants to make it to 140, a combined effort with Eddy Reynoso can actually benefit him.

After Ryan Garcia’s exit, Reynoso’s stable has clearly lost a popular personality. Lopez’s entry can fill that void and be beneficial for the ‘Take Over’ who is now looked down on by several people. Nevertheless, Lopez’s justification on why Garcia left Team Canelo doesn’t seem very convincing, especially after analyzing Garcia’s plans.

Is Teofimo Lopez right about Ryan Garcia?
Garcia was working commendably under Eddy Reynoso but looked vulnerable in his latest outing against Luke Campbell, suffering the first knockdown of his career. Meanwhile, Garcia is an absolute knockout artist with 18 KOs in an active record of 21-0. Thus, Joe Cusumano can be a perfect fit for him.

The Hall of Fame trainer has honed several hard hitters under his shelter. While Ryan Garcia sees a natural knockout artist, he may flourish even better with him. Also, Garcia ended ties with Eddy Reynoso on a bright note. Therefore, it’s hardly credible whether ‘KingRy’ actually let the gym for Teofimo Lopez or not.
