“There Won’t Be an Anthony Joshua”- Bob Arum With Bold Statements
88 year Bob Arum has a certain vision for the undisputed heavyweight championship. However, according to the American businessman, Anthony Joshua is not in the picture.
Supremely confident, Arum drops the hammer on Joshua’s future following his fight with Kubrat Pulev. Arum backs Pulev to deliver a knockout. And the fight that he is waiting for is one between Tyson Fury and the Bulgarian fighter himself.
“The fight I’m looking forward to is Fury versus Pulev, once Pulev knocks Joshua out. I’m not counting on Joshua for Fury. Because once Pulev gets finished with him, there won’t be an Anthony Joshua.”- Bob Arum to Top Rank’s Crystina Poncher

Initially, Joshua was looking to face Pulev back in 2017. However, a shoulder injury sent the match-up off track. As of now, AJ will be taking on Pulev as a mandatory challenger. Ahead of the Coronavirus pandemic, the fight was set to take place in June. However, as things stand now a date in July is looking more plausible, if not later.
The Hall of Fame promoter’s Top Rank represents both Tyson Fury, the reigning heavyweight champion, and Kubrat Pulev, the current top-rated contender.
With both fighters engaged in previous commitments, Joshua with Pulev and Fury with Wilder. A huge faction of the sport has been clamoring for Pulev and Wilder to respectively step aside to allow an all British showdown to take place.
However, the Top Rank chairman is comfortable with the present schedule in place. No matter how and when the fights take place, as far as Arum is concerned, the result remains the same.

How Bob Arum Justifies His Hard Stance
The American businessman feels he has seen all he needs to come to this conclusion. Referring to the fight where Andy Ruiz dropped Anthony Joshua. Arum claims that if the Mexican-American boxer can do it, then the fight will be a cakewalk for his Bulgarian client.
“I promoted the vast majority of Andy Ruiz’s fights and he’s an ordinary heavyweight, maybe a little bit better than the average, but that’s all he is. Nobody who gets knocked out by Andy Ruiz is an elite fighter.”- Bob Arum to talkSPORT
