Terence Crawford reveals his quest for two-time undisputed glory
In a recent appearance on the Last Stand podcast, the undefeated champion was asked what it would mean to become an undisputed champion in two weight classes. Crawford expressed the significance of his upcoming endeavor to become a two-time undisputed champion. Moreover, He emphasized that many people had cast a negative light on his accomplishments, questioning the quality of his opponents and attempting to diminish his success. Despite this, ‘Bud’ staunchly defended his record, highlighting the caliber of the opponents he faced during his time as the reigning super lightweight champion.
“I mean, it means a lot, a lot of people. They shed darkness on me accomplishing it the first time and saying I wasn’t fighting nobody, and they’re trying to take a lot of credit away from the opponents that I faced at 140. When those were good opponents at the time that they were fighting me. So it would mean a lot for me to go out there and become a two-time Undisputed champion. And what’s better than beating the boogeyman?” he said
Motivated by the naysayers and determined to silence his critics, Crawford has set his sights on a second reign as an undisputed world champion, this time in the welterweight division. However, standing in his way will be the ‘Boogeyman’ in Spence who will aim to achieve the same feat as well.
Errol Spence Jr. dismisses Crawford’s undisputed title run at 140 pounds
Despite being an undisputed champion at 140 pounds, Crawford’s title run was dismissed by ‘The Truth’. Spence expressed his skepticism about the quality of Crawford’s opponents, particularly focusing on Julius Indongo, who ‘Bud’ defeated to become the undisputed champion.
Spence scoffed at Indongo’s abilities and questioned the significance of Crawford’s victory over him. In a press conference, Spence voiced his opinion, stating, “I feel like that guy was not that good. Regis (Prograis) stopped him in the second round too. Who did that guy beat to be a world champion?”
While Spence’s statement contained a slight factual error regarding the round in which Regis Prograis stopped Indongo, Crawford quickly responded by highlighting Indongo’s previous victory over Eduard Troyanovsky. However, Spence appeared taken aback by Crawford’s counterargument, admitting that he was unfamiliar with Troyanovsky. He responded with a dismissive remark, saying, “Troy who? Come on, man.”
