Kazakhstani boxer and former unified Middleweight champion of the world Gennady Golovkin has officially relinquished his WBA middleweight title, the only title he had been possessing since he gave up his IBF title in February. Recently, the WBA ordered a mandatory bout between Gennady Golovkin and Erislandy Lara and likewise issued a date for the purse bid. However, as reported by BoxingScene, the attorney of Gennady Golovkin has informed the WBA that while ‘GGG’ “remains committed to fighting again“, he has not made up his mind regarding his next appearance in the ring.

In light of the above statement, John Hornewer, Golovkin’s attorney has declared that ‘GGG’ is vacating his WBA middleweight title in boxing. WBA made the encounter between Lara and ‘GGG’ mandatory, but now that the Kazakhstani has withdrawn and relinquished, Lara has occupied the status of a “full world champion” in this division of boxing.
