Former heavyweight champion and boxing icon Mike Tyson remains a prominent figure in combat sports despite his retirement. Renowned as ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ during his prime, Tyson became the heavyweight champion when was just 20 years old in 1986, catapulting him to global stardom. In a peculiar twist, a self-proclaimed “gangster” from Bristol, UK, shared a remarkable account on a YouTube podcast Hurts So Good.

The clip of the conversation soon made its way to X, and the caption stated, “Here’s a man from Bristol claiming he knocked out Mike Tyson in a pub.” In the video, Dean Cooper claimed to have contemplated using a glass ashtray to potentially knock out ‘Iron Mike’ after a brief confrontation at a pub.

Cooper stated that when he was at a pub and met Tyson, he offered him a drink. However, the heavyweight champion declined his offer initially only to “order a good round” and stated, “The white boy’s getting it.” According to the man, this led to a confrontation between the two and Cooper even picked up the astray, ready to knock Tyson out. He added that he had nothing to lose in the fight, claiming, “Imagine I knocked that c**t out.” However, the bouncers and security broke the confrontation before things could get bad.

As the man’s bold claims of almost knocking down the boxing legend surfaced, fans couldn’t help but be skeptical about his remarks. One fan sarcastically quipped, “True story, trust me,” highlighting the absurdity of the claim.

Another fan also humorously remarked, “Here’s a picture of Iron Mike, moments before their pub altercation…”

 

Several fans found the claim to be nothing short of ridiculous. Someone else suggested that the man should be invited to Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson and claimed, “I guarantee he retracts these claims in front of Iron Mike.”

 

In a tongue-in-cheek comment, one fan jokingly claimed that during the same altercation, they had to kick out Bruce Lee from the pub to ensure a fair fight.

 

However, a fan corrected that the man is “not claiming he KO’d him. just that he held an ashtray…”

 

Another fan questioned the sanity of even contemplating using an ashtray as a weapon in response to a rejected drink offer, regardless of the authenticity of the story. The fan called it “a bit ridiculous.”
