In a recent interview, Tyson Fury’s brother Tommy Fury weighed in on the speculations of a mega-crossover fight between semi-retired pro-boxer Floyd Mayweather and YouTuber Logan Paul.

“Floyd, for starters in his career, can’t take anything away from him. He is one of my favorite fighters of many others. For me, in the top 5 greatest ever to do it. He’s earned his stripes, he’s done whatever he’s done, you know that was his boxing career,” said Fury.

“But I’m not being funny, [If] I was Floyd Mayweather, and somebody said you wanna fight a YouTuber for… I can’t even tell you how much money that’s gonna generate. You don’t know, yeah of course, why wouldn’t you if you want to.

“Some people are gonna say, is he gonna tarnish his legacy? Not really because I see his legacy stopped before the [Conor] McGregor fight. That was his legacy over. You know these fights are sort of like gimmicky fights that we all know he can win. Although the Logan Paul, if it makes money it makes sense.”

What can be said about Floyd Mayweather’s decision to take this fight?

Floyd Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs), is retired from competitive boxing and had his last fight against Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in an exhibition bout in 2019. He also fought UFC star Conor McGregor in 2017 in one of the biggest PPVs in history. Now, with rumors of a bout against YouTuber Logan Paul going around, Floyd might make a return to the ring once again.

This fight against a YouTuber, who has had one professional fight, is just an easy cash-grab in the age of the internet. And to be honest, it will not be a very exciting contest in terms of competition.

Mayweather, however, has a flawless career and has achieved a lot professionally. So we don’t blame him either for taking up easy fights for money. Being in good physical and mental shape at 43, he might continue to do this.
