The Tottenham Hotspur stadium has an estimated seating capacity of 62,580. The state-of-the-art arena opened in 2019 and faced its litmus test on 3rd December. World’s first pitch to retract and part hosted the Heavyweight boxing match between reigning WBC champion Tyson Fury and WBA International Heavyweight champion Derek Chisora. Nearly sixty thousand people congregated to witness two giants of international boxing slugging out.

The announcement for the match was first made on 20th October. It will be the third time the two British heavyweights were meeting. Chisora lost all three bouts, which include the latest edition. So barely anyone expected the Harare-born Del Boy War to stage a coup d’état against the King.

Six feet nine inches tall, Tyson Fury performed as you might expect from a boxer of his caliber. Trademark left jabs from Fury, kept Chisora literally an arm’s length away. Flashes of Derek landing a few combinations enlivened the atmosphere. But it was insufficient against The Gypsy King now calling the shots. An astute man, referee Victor Laughlin, displayed sound judgment and raised his hands in the tenth round to stop the fight.

Post-match, Tyson went to see his old friend in his dressing room. Surrounded by family, friends, and media representatives, Derek treated Tyson to burgers. Their light-hearted banter kept everyone engaged. However, Del Boy War informed the latter that he might not be able to relish the burger, since his jaw hurt severely.

Checking on his friend, Fury wanted to know his post-fight plans, and Chisora said plainly that he just wished to return home and recuperate. One of the members from the media asked how the duo felt now that their trilogy was over. Chisora replied, “It feels great.”

The Gypsy King probed whether Derek and his wife planned on having more kids. The latter, a bit tickled, threw the question back to Fury, who said, “What the good Lord will give me for sure. I will , I don’t know, keep it going. I have to keep fighting until I’m 65. I’ve been in this game so long and I tried to walk away a lot of times I can’t; I just I’m like Frankenstein feeding off the electricity coming out there tonight when people are going mad was like giving me a million quid; it was unbelievable ..listen you’re not getting a better crowd than that tonight really yeah…”

Now that the preliminary test was over, Fury must face the most significant assessment of his pugilistic talent with a single-minded focus. But, the opponent Oleksandr Usyk is woefully someone The Gypsy King is yet to meet.
