2021 was perhaps an unlucky year for Teofimo Lopez, the ex-unified lightweight king. In the year 2020, Lopez pulled off an upset by defeating the lightweight icon, Vasyl Lomachenko. With that, he became the center of attraction and was right at the top of news headlines. However, since a loss in his last outing, Lopez went out of the limelight abruptly.

‘The Takeover’ remains active on social media to a fair extent. He often posts about his life activities and more such anecdotes. But Lopez recently came up with a tweet on ‘burden’ and more.
The hardest part is caring a burden that was never yours and to be apart from my son.. Unfair than a MF! God I’m really trying not to disappoint you. I will continue to pray for better days through you my Lord. 💔

Teofimo Lopez last battled George Kambosos Jr. to defend his lightweight straps. ‘The Takeover’ was a favorite to win this fight, and he also started off on an aggressive note. It seemed as if the 24-year-old was keen to get a knockout win in the very first round.
But his game plan got reversed when Kambosos Jr. dropped the Brooklyn native in round 1 itself. Lopez rushed too much, and he paid the price for it. Later, ‘The Takeover’ boxed smartly, protecting his chin. The two men stood tall, trading some extensive amount of punches.
Even in this exchange, Kambosos Jr. had a slight edge as he could channel his power and timing of punches well.
