The sport of boxing has undoubtedly made boxers some of the most dangerous athletes on the planet. The sheer power aside, one of the skills that sets boxers apart are their lightning-fast reflexes. With the sport of boxing giving fighters only a fraction of a second to react, an impeccable reflex is often considered one of the best weapons in a boxer’s arsenal. A video recently showed a young professional boxer displaying jaw-dropping reflexes on a reflex trainer while blindfolded. And it is safe to say that Reddit users were intrigued, to say the least.

Samuel J Castellanos is a 17-year-old boxer who is often considered the youngest professional boxer in the USA. Moreover, he is also a 13-time National Champion and currently trains at the Hollister Boxing Academy.

The video showed a blindfolded Castellanos engaged in a reflex training session. He initially starts slow but quickly picks up pace. There is no denying that Castellanos showcased a sensational skillset in the session that encompassed both offensive and defensive moves.

Additionally, it should be mentioned that this was, in fact, reminiscent of Ryan Garcia‘s iconic reflex bag sessions.

Reddit users were impressed to see Castellenos’ exemplary reflexes. Moreover, a lot of users took to social media to share their thoughts about the same. A few users were surprised by his speed. User Mildbananas said, “I flinched like 5 times.”

Similarly, user SweetMeatin jokingly stated, “Should have sped it up a bit more this is too subtle.”

User da_xiog12 pointed out that the reflex trainer was similar to a method used by old-school boxers. The user said, “This is that water bottle tied to a fan thing set on hard mode. Super cool!”

However, user Ebonyks was not very impressed. They mentioned, “Your eyes are much slower than your ears with training like this. Even if your eyes were working, they aren’t very useful in training like this. Muscle memory and rhythm are what he’s working off of.”

The user also mentioned that the blindfold only adds a layer of confidence.
