Ryan Garcia and Canelo Alvarez have been on friendly terms for years, and both men have managed to become prizefighters in their respective divisions. Although Garcia has a lot to achieve to fall in a similar loop with Alvarez, the young gun has staged a pretty impressive run with a 21-0 active record.
He has apparently learned a lot from Canelo Alvarez and trainer Eddy Reynoso, before parting ways with the team. Meanwhile, Garcia may also have a lot of memories to look back at with them. He began his journey with Team Canelo in 2018 and has been there till his last scrap against Luke Campbell in 2021.

No doubt, Canelo Alvarez is the big dog in the gym and the one with the most success. That said, the P4P king also mentors a lot of youngsters, and Garcia is seemingly one of them. But the video, which is currently the center of the action, showcases Alvarez elbowing Garcia and pushing him aside.

Alvarez has always backed ‘KingRy’ and has been a regular face in his events. However, Canelo Alvarez didn’t hesitate to ridicule the youngster for his long hiatus in the early years of his pro career a few months back. He claimed Ryan Garcia ‘is wasting his talent’ and alarmed him about the struggles in the sport. Well, Garcia is now under the guidance of Joe Cusumano, and it will be interesting to see whether he continues to idolize Canelo Alvarez.

The former WBC Interim lightweight champion will come back to action on April 9 against Emmanuel Tagoe. He is expected to remain active this year, and resurrect his path towards a championship shot. But a sudden shift of trainers can bring in some massive changes. Cusumano is known for honing knockout skills, while Eddy Reynoso was a defensive wizard.
Therefore, Ryan Garcia, a natural knockout artist, can progress better under his new stable. But unless he goes for the bigger bouts, ‘KingRy’ will remain sidelined. The lightweight division is full of superstars right now, and Garcia needs to push his limits to fit in.
