Reigning heavyweight champion Tyson Fury retained his titles after a scintillating victory against Dillian Whyte in April. Meanwhile, recently released footage shows the advice that Fury received from his corner before knocking out Whyte.

Fury’s trainer Emmanuel Steward ensured that he gave him invaluable tips after every round. Right after the first round, Steward asked Fury to pace himself and to take his time with the shots. In fact, he even mentioned, “He’s gonna fall right into it.”

However, his most important suggestion came right after the 5th round. Steward told Fury, “You turn him. You got to pain and break on him. That’s gonna change the fight. When you turn him you got a phantom breaker. You’ve just been around here waiting.”

Moreover, he also helped Fury time his knockout. Steward said, “You’re giving him too much time to break to breathe. When you turn him, break on it. Coz he’s sitting there ready to go. One-two, one-two checkout. all that sh*t ok. Coz he’s not ready.”

Steward’s advice proved invaluable for Fury, who was able to land a perfectly timed uppercut. This helped Fury garner a stellar victory against Whyte, and keep his position as the reigning heavyweight champion.

‘The Gypsy King’ was basking in the glory of his trilogy victory against Deontay Wilder. Fury was also contemplating his retirement from the sport after his victory in the third rematch against Wilder.

However, the president of WBC Mauricio Sulaiman announced in December 2021 that Fury will have to defend his title against Dillian Whyte. It was also reported that the winner would get 80% of the purse while the challenger would receive 20%.
