Floyd Mayweather proved that he still has ways to go before leaving boxing altogether, after his emphatic knockout of Mikuru Asakura. Even though the former champ was successful in his bout, his bodyguard, Ray ‘Jizzy Mack’ Sadeghi, didn’t share the same fate.

Sadeghi was set to fight against Japanese kickboxer, Koji ‘Kouzi’ Tanaka, who knocked him out in the third round. Despite having the weight advantage, Mayweather’s bodyguard was ousted by Tanaka, a veteran in the sport with 50 bouts under his belt. Tanaka clinched the victory in a dominant fashion after initially struggling to come to grips with the size difference. Sadeghi weighs 185lbs, while Tanaka competes at 135lbs usually. However, Mayweather wasn’t too shocked after seeing his crew member, getting KO’d by a much smaller fighter.

“I take my hat off to him, he tried his best. He’s never had a fight before, so to get in there with a guy with 50 fights was a good experience for him. It was a good learning experience, I want him to hold his head up high, I’m proud of him and I will always be proud of him,” he said.

This bout seemed to prove the point that competing against a professional fighter is no small feat. Sadeghi had a weight advantage of over 40 pounds over his opponent but got knocked out by him. He must now use this loss as a learning curb to improve his skills if he wishes to continue competing.
