Controversial YouTube sensation Jake Paul recently made headlines for ripping apart a friend’s Balenciaga sweatshirt in response to the luxury fashion brand’s recent ad scandal. “The Problem Child’ is no stranger to controversies himself making a career out of trying to stir up feuds online. However, he is now currently more focused on boxing and will take on former UFC veteran Nate Diaz in a boxing match this August.

Despite this, he was not shy to tear off his friend’s Balenciaga sweatshirt in front of his entourage and showcase his dislike for the brand in front of millions watching. The Ohio-based boxer recently uploaded his latest vlog where he expresses his anger at Balenciaga over the ad.

Jake Paul tears his friends’ Balenciaga sweatshirt after the company’s ad controversy

In the video, we can see Paul condemning the brand and asking his friend to take off his sweatshirt in front of the camera. Moreover, when his friend doesn’t oblige, he goes on and tears the shirt himself claiming that he does not endorse the brand.

Take your shirt off do it on camera, take your f**king shirt off, take it off brother. We don’t support Balenciaga, it looks good leave the logo down, we are going to dispose of this,” he said.

Paul might have a point to prove to his fans and audiences as the scandal has received quite a backlash from people with many consumers vowing to boycott the brand.

The Balenciaga scandal explained

The ad in question features children holding teddy bears in bondage harnesses and costumes. The ad sparked outrage online, with many accusing Balenciaga of promoting sexual violence and child exploitation.

Moreover, the ad also featured several other controversial images and inappropriate use of children which has garnered the brand a lot of hate.

Balenciaga did issues a formal apology for their campaign. However, this did not help too much in the criticism which came towards the company. Many consumers vowed to boycott the brand and called for greater accountability from luxury fashion companies as a whole. As the fashion industry continues to grapple with issues of diversity, inclusion, and social responsibility, it remains to be seen how brands win ill respond to the changing landscape. However, it is clear that consumers are increasingly demanding more from the brands they support. In addition, those that fail to meet these expectations may find themselves facing significant backlash.
