The lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is all set to box WBC interim champion, Dillian Whyte. However, the Lancashire native was keen to face unified champion Oleksandr Usyk in the undisputed heavyweight title clash after thrashing Deontay Wilder.

As former champion Anthony Joshua activated his rematch clause, ‘The Gypsy King’ had to be content with sharing the ring with his mandatory for his first boxing outing of 2022.
Notably, a contract between the two heavyweights is still not signed because the date and venue are not confirmed. However, WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman shared a post on Twitter, providing an update on the high-profile WBC heavyweight bout.

Sulaiman wrote, “@WBCBoxing has received the 10% deposit as per our rules for the record breaking purse bid of $41,025,000 for #FuryWhyte Next step is site and Date confirmation and then signed contracts by both fighters @Tyson_Fury @DillianWhyte @trboxing.”
This was the second negotiation between promoters of Fury and Whyte because purse distribution was not resolved in the first one.

The unified title clash between Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos Jr. went to purse bids early last year. Triller secured the lightweight fight, but it ultimately fell through.

Ryan Kavanaugh’s Triller invested in the lightweight title fight. After multiple postponements, one of the parties wanted to postpone the fight to avoid a clash with NFL. Hence, they persuaded both the fighters with a contract.

As Kambosos Jr. demanded more, Triller washed their hands of the bout and lost their deposit. Subsequently, IBF found that Triller defaulted its contractual obligation and stripped them of their rights to the fight.

It seems that the WBC doesn’t want to go down the IBF path. Hence, they confirmed the $4 million deposit from Frank Warren before the confirmation of the date and venue.
What this means for Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte is that everything is on track. Once a date and venue get fixed, it will be smooth sailing ahead.
