The Fury surname has now become synonymous with boxing. Tyson Fury remains the most prominent flagbearer of his illustrious family. However, others in the family have also made a mark in the sport. John Fury, his father, is a former bare-knuckle fighter and professional boxer with eight wins against four losses. Five of his six children, including Tyson and Tommy Fury, have taken up boxing.

However, the roots of boxing lie deep, even among the extended family. The brothers of John Fury are also connected with the sport in one way or another. Peter Fury, who has a history of participating in amateur and professional bouts in his youth, has primarily been responsible for taking care of his nephew Tyson Fury’s career. Now, as details filter in, another member of the Fury clan, James Dean Fury, seems to be making waves in British boxing’s amateur scene.

A boxing legacy spread far and wide.

Hosea Burton had been a British Light Heavyweight champion and rounded up a record that read 28 victories at the cost of four losses. Then there is Phil Fury, who participated in 16 fights, winning 13 and facing defeats in the remaining three. Peter Fury’s son, 29-year-old Hughie Fury, is also a Heavyweight boxer who has previously held the British Heavyweight title.

Finally, Tyson Fury, the reigning world champion, returns to the ring after a break of nearly ten months to face Francis Ngannou, the former UFC Heavyweight champion. After that, he would be moving on to what could be one of the most significant bouts of his career. He will take on unified Heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia either by December or in the early months of next year. The fight’s winner will become the first undisputed Heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis!
