The grand reception at the 94th Academy Awards in Dolby Theater, Los Angeles, couldn’t have been better. The Academy of Motion Pictures was trying to make amends to some of the most seething criticisms ever received in recent times. But fate decreed otherwise when one of the most popular and bankable actor, Will Smith, assaulted the host, actor-comedian Chris Rock in a fit of pique.

Actor Will Smith, our main protagonist, was quite miffed at famous comedian and frequent Oscar host Chris Rock. The reason – the comedian took potshots and dared compare Smith’s better half, a shaven-headed actress and TV host, Jada Pinkett, with the character played by actress Demi Moore in the movie G.I Jane.
The actress had shaved off her hair as part of treatment for alopecia. But Will Smith couldn’t hold the simmering heat inside. He went upstage and slapped Chris Rock. Once back to his reserved seat, Smith shouted back at Rock, “Keep my wife’s name out your f*****g mouth!”
A Friend In Need is Mayweather Indeed
It is often said – only when down and out do we get to know the ones standing by us. Will Smith has no shortage of well-wishers. Yet, it also came as a big surprise to him when, out of nowhere, he received a call from Floyd The Money Mayweather.
The actor has claimed to have met the champion during a casual chance meeting sometime before the infamous incident. But the champion made it a point to continuously call and check on him for ten days.

“I want to say something also about Floyd,” Smith said via TMZ Sports. “So, we’ve met each other, we’ve seen each other around, but we weren’t, like, friends. And, the day after the Oscars, for 10 days he called me every day.
“And, he was like, ‘Ay, you know you the champ, right? You good? You know you the champ, right? I want you to hear my voice say it.’ That was every day he called me … and it’s like, that’s my dude forever right there.” Added Smith.

With the videos and pics of the Slapgate becoming viral, the actor issued a formal apology through Facebook and Instagram. After that, however, the die was cast, and the Academy took extreme measures to ban him from attending any event for the next ten years.
