Sunny Edwards responded to Jones’s tweet and suggested a solution to reduce knife assaults happening anywhere. Now knife crime rates in the UK have been on a rise in the past couple of years, so Edwards, being a British boxer, has been witnessing the problem firsthand.

Sunny Edwards is a British professional boxer. He competes in the flyweight division and has been the IBF flyweight Champion since 2021. Edwards is known for his quick footwork and counter-punching ability. He is one of the best boxers in the division, as he is ranked number 1 as a flyweight by BoxRec. Edwards also made news recently when he called Doja Cat as ‘Ms. Lucifer’ in one of his tweets.

Sam Jones expressed his concern about the increasing crime rates, especially knife crimes among teens. Jones took his problem to Twitter, in the hope to extract some good validating points regarding the problem. He wrote, “How do we tackle knife crime it’s getting worse worse?”

Sunny Edwards responded to this tweet and devised a solution to this problem. He said that boxing should again be a part of the school curriculum. Boxing was reportedly removed from the school curriculum in the UK in the 1970s due to safety hazards. The NCAA also stopped sanctioning college boxing in the United Kingdom around the same time.

That’s the reason, Edwards talks about bringing boxing back to school, as it will increase self-esteem and when they’ll have a boost in confidence and power, they won’t feel the need of using knives in order to feel powerful. He wrote, “Boxing back in schools. Once you know noone can out fight you or out run you – the need to leave the house with a knife is reduced by 100%.”

In general, the inclusion of boxing in high school physical education programs has been a controversial topic. While some proponents argue that it can be a valuable tool for building physical strength, coordination, and discipline.
