What is the take of Jordan Peterson on boxing?

In the conversation, the prominent psychologist Peterson enlightened the masses on the importance of controlled belligerence in boxing. He said, The boxing establishment, obviously, the capacity for aggression, is something that’s not only allowed but developed; but it’s brought under control, you know. And I think that sophisticated psychologists understand, and sophisticated people understand, that you don’t make men harmless by making them weak; you make them useful and responsible by helping them bring their capacity for mayhem and aggression under long-term conscious, careful control. And that’s part of the respect, you know.”

To amplify his perspective, he further said, “I mean, one of the things about boxing, and this is true of any sport I would say, is that you have to learn to take a blow, and you have to learn to control your temper. And so, that’s a big deal because a lot of aggression, violent aggression, goes astray when it’s impulsive.”

How did fans react to Peterson’s perspective?

Chris Williams started the conversation by praising the content, stating, “Brilliant. I run a business and box regular, and all that content is spot on.” In response to Rick Huse’s reaction, he shared his surprise: “He looked at JP like ‘wth do YOU know about boxing’ then proceeds to hear the most fundamental core of not only high-level boxers but men in general .”

Meanwhile, Fernando offered a contrasting view, asserting, “Nah only in combat sports do they learn to control their capacity for aggression, in soccer, in basketball they’re all always so ready to get angry; it’s quite funny to be honest.”
