Jake Paul took to Twitter, claiming he could beat both Mayweather and Silva on the same night. Silva’s long time boxing coach had some thoughts on this tweet.

Silva’s boxing coach warns Jake Paul

Anderson Silva’s boxing coach, Luiz Carlos Dorea, who has trained him for recent wins over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Tito Ortiz in boxing had this to say about Jake Paul‘s comments in an interview with MMA fighting.

You have to laugh, right? Have to laugh, Jake Paul is doing his part, which is to promote. It’s obvious there’s no way he can face Mayweather, one of the best boxers of all time, and Anderson, another legend. He never fought a striker.”

Although Paul has remained undefeated with 5-0 in boxing with wins over Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren, he has never fought a pure striker with both of them specializing in wrestling.

Paul has teased on Twitter that he will be coming back to boxing to face an undecided opponent on August 13 and Silva could be on the list of potential opponents for him.

Dorea shared his views about the potential bout between the two. He said, “He has to think of an exhibition. If he’s considering a [official] fight, I think he will pay dearly. In promoting, it’s all valid. He’s doing his part, using his tongue, but you can’t use your tongue inside the ring. You have to use your fists, and it’s a whole other story. Anderson is far better.”

Dorea Praises Silva

Dorea also pointed out that Silva has been training in boxing since he first started MMA, which is why he is having so much success in the boxing ring even at 47-years-old.

Anderson has always trained boxing when he was fighting MMA, he was always a striker with good boxing and Muay Thai. Now, almost two years later and the three [boxing matches] we’ve done, and training boxing specifically for this, Anderson is evolving a lot. He’s more confident in his movement and defense. He had great boxing for MMA and is putting on a show now. His level is so high.”

Silva was considered to be one of the best strikers in the UFC and he has certainly taken that with him in the boxing ring as well. He is 2-0 in boxing since he left the UFC in 2020, and while Paul continues to improve in the ring, so does veteran Silva.
