“He Is Not a Mayweather”- Henry Cejudo Backs Oscar De La Hoya to Beat Conor McGregor in Boxing

While Oscar De La Hoya has confirmed his return against former UFC fighter Vitor Belfort, several more names are popping up on his radar. Although Conor McGregor doesn’t seem a viable contender in that race, ‘Golden Boy’ vs ‘Notorious’ would still be a great fight.
That said, Cejudo has favored 48-year-old De La Hoya to claim an easy win over McGregor, if that fight ever takes place. Although it may seem bizarre to several people, ‘Triple C’ didn’t hesitate while predicting the result of this potential showdown.
In the backstage of Mike Tyson’s Hotboxin’ podcast, Henry Cejudo said, “Oscar would put him [Conor McGregor] away. He is a killer man. He is not a Mayweather, he is not a defensive guy. If he wants to fight Conor in boxing, Conor wouldn’t last a minute. Left hook, jab.”

Oscar De La Hoya appeared to agree with those claims. However, he didn’t show eagerness in making this bout happen. Moreover, the boxer turned promoter didn’t trash talk Conor McGregor. While ‘Notorious’ now seems focused on his UFC career, a boxing scrap against De La Hoya looks irrelevant. But we can see it happen in the future.

Following a return against Belfort, we can expect De La Hoya to accept a few more bouts ahead. This gives a lifeline to several possible crossovers between ‘Golden Boy’ and UFC veterans. That said, it might be a new chapter in Oscar De La Hoya’s career.
What will suit Oscar De La Hoya ahead?
Although De La Hoya is currently focused on Belfort, he has already chalked up a few plans for the future. After he fights ‘The Phenom’, De La Hoya has expressed interest in re-matching Floyd Mayweather. He is also keen on boxing Anderson Silva. All these fights can be massive. However, they are far from becoming official.
